    Dune habitat management

A Conservation Strategy for the Sefton Coast candidate Special Area of Conservation was prepared in 1999. The strategy will guide the work of Statutory agencies, land managers and conservation organisations in seeking to achieve favourable conditions for the habitats and species associated with the Sefton Coast.

The background to the development of best practice in dune management is presented in three case studies.

Further information on dune habitat management is given in the book "The Sands of Time"

    Species conservation

Practical work for species on the Sefton Coast has focussed on the Sand Lizard, Natterjack Toad, Petalwort, Red Squirrel, and certain rare plants.
