Task GroupsAccess & InterpretationChair - Andrew BrockbankTerms of Reference:- The Access and Interpretation Task Group will review the contribution of the coastal zone to informal recreation and enjoyment by residents and visitors to the Sefton Coast.- The group will review accessibility to the coastal zone considering access by public transport, cycling facilities, car parking, concessions and availability of information to those wishing to visit. - The management of strategic routes, notably the Sefton Coastal Path and permissive bridlepath will be reviewed and action plans will be prepared to address key issues. - The group may propose opportunities for new access provision where there is a demonstrable need, and where such development is complementary to conservation and landscape interests. - The group will share best practice in the provision of on-site interpretation and information designed to orientate and help visitors to enjoy the coast. Attention will be given to reinforcing the concept of a chain of 'Gateway' sites with appropriate, site specific and coast-wide information. The themes and subjects to be interpreted, should reflect local distinctiveness as well as coast-wide significance and should be based on the best research and evidence available. - The group will consider issues of capital and maintenance funding and will seek to gain added value through working in partnership (wherever possible) to draw down additional sources of financial support.
