Title The origins and history of Britain’s first Lifeboat Station, Formby Point.

Project Description
To establish the origins and subsequent history of ‘Britain’s First Lifeboat Station’ at Formby Point, (established in 1776) in order to improve the safety of vessels using the then difficult approaches to the newly emerging Port of Liverpool. The positioning and maintenance of good navigation beacons and tidal measurements were further important developments and the few remaining relevant structures. Beacons, Tide-poles, etc, are now being recorded.
